Self-Employment Program (S.E.P.)

STA SAJE Montreal Centre

You’re qualified and want to create your own job? Learn more about the Self-Employment Program (SEP).

What is a self-employed worker?

As a self-employed worker, you provide services directly to your customers. You set your own schedule, decide how you work, and whether to work from home or rent an office. You are not tied to an employer; you work directly for your customers with whom you have developed a business relationship.

A program to help you achieve your goals!

What are the benefits of the Self-Employment Program?

The Self-Employment Program permits you to benefit from a special status for a 52-week period so you can devote all of your time and energy to starting your own business.

The SEP Program, financed by Emploi Québec, offers two types of assistance simultaneously:

  1. Technical support: business plan training, monitoring and support for a 2-year period by a counselor from SAJE Montréal Centre.
  2. Income support: from Emploi Québec for a period of up to 52 weeks. Click here for further information
  3. IMPORTANT: Financial support and eligibility for the Support for Self-Employment measure are under the responsibility of Emploi-Québec. Conditions apply.

The Self-Employment Program makes a business advisor available to you who will accompany you through the entrepreneurship process, including the start-up of your business. You will have the support of an advisor who will be available to answer your questions for a two-year period.

In addition, you will have access to training workshops in order to prepare you to develop your business plan and launch your company, to learn how to sell your products and/or services and to acquire the competencies and management skills needed to run your business

Can I apply?

You are eligible for the Self-Employment Program if :

  • you are a recipient of the Employment Insurance, a person receiving benefits under a last-resort financial assistance program, a person not receiving government income support or a person who have precarious employment
